Yay...I did 2 good deeds today =D
The 1st one:
There was this ah ma that was amazingly juggling three HUMONGOUS NTUC bags (around the size of 3 bags of 5kg rice, but definitely lighter) and is apparently struggling like shit at a TPY bustop. Being a kind-hearted citizen that lives to spread good will around the world, I naturally stood up from my seat and courteously 让位.
The ah ma's eyes were glistening with tears as she slowly unloaded her bags and grasped my hands tightly in hers. The ah ma thanked me repeatedly (I'm serious k!) and put all her bags on the seat. Somehow, maybe it's due to my
irresistable charm friendly disposition, (I honestly have no idea what she was thinking), she strike up a conversation with me.
Ah ma: (scrutinizing my uniform from up to down, down to up, right to left, left to right, front to back, back to front) Eh...Hwa Chong ah?
Me: (晴霹 but manages to keep my smile) No la...Nanyang. Heheh...
Ah ma: (nods slowly with new understanding) Oh...So now poly and JC are almost the same right?
Me: (thinking inwardly, 'what's the link?!', but answers patiently) Urm...no. In terms of courses and syllabus it's very different blah blah blah...
Ah ma: (nods again) Ah...so now Nanyang Poly got uniform?
Me: (再次晴霹, almost 抓狂) Urm...I'm from Nanyang JC.
Thankfully, 105 came and I hurriedly flagged for it. I squeezed out my most sincere smile at the ah ma and made an escape. I think I heard her murmur something like, "Ah...what's Nanyang JC?"
```
The 2nd one:
On 105, after settling down, I was thankful that I was finally able to catch a few winks before alighting. However, to my utmost dismay, after a mere 5 mins. into my sleep, a deep and husky voice jolted me awake.
Woman: (middle-aged, with a scarily deep and husky voice) Excuse me, where is the Raffles Town Club?
Me: (trying not to look startled) Around...3 stops more.
However, before I finished my answer, the bus had already stopped at another stop, leaving only 2 more stops to her destination. Great. Now I have to find a way to tell her that she should stop at the stop after the next instead of the stop after the stop after the next.
Me: (gently, after the bus had passed by another stop) Urm...you should get down this stop.
Woman: (with a look that says: 为什么?难道你刚才在骗我?还是你现在在骗我?!) This stop?
Me: (forcing out my most truthful smile and earnest look) Yes, this stop.
Woman: (glimpsing around, clutching tightly onto her bag, with an unsure and frightened look in her eyes) OK...are you sure girl?
Hello! I got D7 for my 'O' levels Geog, DON'T ASK ME FOR DIRECTIONS!!!
